I see. And that, of course, is a valid way of classifying cognacs. I think most do it that way.
But personally, I prefer to classify cognacs purely on quality and taste experience. Otherwise, a 3-star cognac can also get an A.
The Bouron sublime, for example, gets a 10 from me (an A, that is). But it's so expensive that, if I'm watching costs, it would get an 8 (a B?).

I see. In that case, there’s a few more bottles that I need to add on there. I should still add Ragnaud-Sabourin Fontvieille #35, Paul Giraud XO, Paul Beau hors d’age. I am sure there are a few more that I just can’t remember now, since I had those quite a while ago.

Navarre Souvenir Imperial 40% abv.

There is no arguing with the nose and the tongue. This is a 50+ year old cask strength. Tasting is convincing.

Somehow Navarre managed to pull it off with this low abv bottle. That’s his magic. Without the arsenal of reserves in inventory that Remy Martin has for the Louis XIII. For Navarre to do something as remarkable as they had, at their size is nothing short of amazing.

Nose:
Exotic tropical fruits. Apricot. Lychee. Spicy. Honey. Passion fruit. Stewed peaches. Unmistakable rancio.

Palate:
Complex. Layered. Vanilla. Toffee. Rancio. Long finish.

This is going on my favorite list.

Borderies 1988 62,5% van Richard Delisle krachtig vol en nog te hoog in alcohol. Ook de 1988 Petite Champagne geproefd en ga denk ik vragen of ze die kunnen blenden met de Borderies om een mooie Vintage Blend te maken.

45.9% abv Grande Champagne

This is probably a 25 year old.

The extra 5.9% abv delivered a more aromatic bouquet over the XO. Tropical fruits on the palate. Medium length finish.

Pierre Ferrand Abel.
40% abv. Grande Champagne

45 years in the barrel and another probably 20 years sitting on the shelves. This cognac have either become faible or I was sold a bad bottle. The entire content felt watered down. Nose muted. The palate unimpressive. I had high expectations for this bottle, but it fell short. Feels like this one has lost its soul.

Delamain Reserve De La Famille
60 year old single cask. 43% cask strength.
Cask #350-51. Bottle number 38 of 180.

Had this for many years. Finally opened it today. And the nose is amazing as expected.

Next thing to do is comparing it to older versions of reserve de la famille bottles.
