Wat drink je vandaag of wat heb je gisteren gedronken...
Re: Wat drink je vandaag of wat heb je gisteren gedronken...
I decided to go with the Deux sincere I already know what the Voyer Extra taste like.
This cognac is quite good. No alcohol burn at all at 51% abv. Compared to the Audry Aristide, this is smoother and only cost half as much. I am glad I took a chance with it. And sorry to say, but the rancio is more pronounced with this one
The nose: smell of ripe pineapple, cigar box, leather chair. Rich.
On the palate: rancio. Quite yummy, and smooth for a 51% abv. Complex and layered. Mid length on the tongue. Taste of mango and that ripe pineapple. Christmas cake.

Here is more info from their booklet.

Wow. Let it sit a while longer, and with a few drops of water, the magic is really released.

That gives some more information. I wonder if this is not a typo. Mr. A. Jullien (André Jullien, with two 'l'-s) is the owner of Logis de la Mothe, who stopped private sales in 2017. I don't know any other André Julien or Julien André.
I guess the second family bought the cask, hence deux familles. If this is the case, only this second family can confirm my hunch if this was indeed from André Jullien.
Maybe time will tell.

Looks like he managed to sell off a few exquisite barrels before dedicating exclusively to Remy Martin.Ton schreef: ↑di 13 mei 2025, 13:01 That gives some more information. Residence VSOP

Courvoisier XO and Exclusif
Not super exciting but well qualified for its spot in the range.
The XO clearly has a darker hue.
On the nose: XO is clearly more complex. Vanilla, orange peel, honey dates.
On the tongue: tropical fruits, chocolate. But finished short. It’s missing the depth of higher range cognacs.
The Exclusif is floral. When tasted side by side, it has a distinguishable youthfulness. It’s however much smoother than a ‘VSOP’ (as indicated on later bottling). It’s clearly much older than the minimum requirement. I think it should be a Napoleon grade.

Audry Memorial vs Audry Memorial
Same Abv. 42%
One bottle, brand new stock with new packaging and 700 ml.
Another bottle, years old, left over from earlier purchase containing 750 ml.
One is at a clear disadvantage from being exposed to oxygen for at least two to three years.
But the verdict…., the old timer had not lost its mojo.
I would hold on to old bottles of the Memorial if you have stockpiled a few, and keep them for more special occasions.

And buy old bottle on auction instead of new one?
