For some reason. I like the old version better.

Both are smooth. But the difference is rancio.

I noticed something wasn’t quite right yesterday, and today it happened. Looks like Suntory’s Courvoisier had been cutting corners in more places than one.

I am not sure that I understand. Cutting corners? with what?

For instance, using inferior glue for the stopper and bad quality cork

Also they were grande champagne before, but changed to multiple terroir.

Alright. Here is another chance for Le Courvoisier de Suntory. Behold…

Well, I stand corrected. Maybe the last batch was an anomaly

Frapin 1994 Cask Strength 28 year old
46.7% abv. All that extra abv packs a punch on the palate.

On the nose, orange zest, roasted nuts, tropical fruits.

On the palate, bake stone fruit, vanilla, Bing cherry, tropical fruit, complex. It has a little heat, but along with the bite, it brings more pronounced nose and flavor. Finishes long.

Frapin 1994 vs. Frapin 1988
28 years old vs. 27 years old.
46.7% abv cask strength vs. 41.5% abv.

The 1994 opened up after a few minutes. The nose becomes more intense and fragrant. The rancio is now showing through in a bigger way.

The 1988 bottle might have been opened for too long, or perhaps it’s due to the lower abv. The nose is a bit subtle. However, the palate on the 1988 is more mellow and still complex, and the rancio is there too.
