In my opinion, the quality of Hine is not what it used to be in the past.
We've been there 2 or 3 years ago.
What is your experience? Or maybe anyone else's?

They do seem to be quite busy lately. I guess trying to do too many things in a short amount of time has it’s penalties. I have only a few of their older bottles, but I haven’t opened them yet. So I can’t make any comparisons. These two however taste quite different. They are good for their age. Looks like they were trying to bring out some authenticity with these bottles for the cognac enthusiasts.

But I am not sure if I would be happy with a 9-10 year old OK cognac
Anyway, what we tasted a few years ago at Hine in Jarnac was very underwhelming.

Not overwhelming that’s for sure. Unfortunately anything exciting with Hine these days are into the four digit range. There’s nothing worthwhile in between.

Mery Melrose Ancestral. 40% abv.

Grande Champagne. Average 40 years of age.

Artisan distillers are always exciting.

Nadat ik deze twee heb kunnen proeven niet getwijfeld om ze aan te schaffen. Behoren ook tot mijn favoriete huizen.

It’s good, but it would surely be better if they would’ve left the abv slightly higher.

I liked the ancestral. Was spicy and had nice older notes. I agree that it lacked a bit of power of Ooomph... rated it 86 out of 100
