For this one, I think the “extra” part is probably a smaller portion of the bottle than a regular Extra bottle, since I didn’t pick up on several key tasting notes as described by the reviews. I am definitely interested in getting myself a bottle of their Extra cognac now that I’ve learned more about it.

Pierre Ferrand 1975 Grande Champagne, Cask Strength 41% abv.

I was expecting it to be just as complex as the 1972, but with perhaps hints of subtle nuances such as a different years of climate may imbue. It’s mystifying how this cask Strength is just 41% abv. While this bottle is three (3) years younger than that of the 1972 Cask Strength, the abv. is not higher, but on the contrary, it’s actually developed a lower abv. Perhaps it may appears that although even if Pierre had his hands in distillation, he probably had no part towards the later part of this cognac’s development.

Gisteren de André Petit XO Extra weer eens geproefd en eergisteren de Napoleon XO van Beaulon. Ik blijf beide cognacs geweldig vinden en nog alleszins betaalbaar, vooral de André Petit.

There are different #58 bottles that are 42.2% abv. (European markets)

Tasting:
Perhaps I expected too much from this bottle. Uncharacteristic of a 60+ year old cognac. Maybe #58 here doesn't mean 1958.

I suggest you let the bottle rest for 2 months now and then try again. There is a good chance it will improve because of the oxygen.
You can also put a few drops of water in the glass, but you probably already know that.
