In 1810, François Cabanne left his native
Vienne with his wife and first two children
to settle in Charente. His eldest son, of the
same name, married a charming
Charentaise woman from Bourg-Charente in
1839, who lived at Chez Genin. Since that
day, the family home, which saw the birth of
many of the family members, has been
passed down from generation to generation.
It was then obvious to establish the
company's head office there

When the Cabanne family arrived in Charente,
they cultivated the land, then in 1844 JeanCélestin developed the wine business,
Philémon, his only son, developed distillation.
The distillery then had three stills, which was
considerable for the time. For four
generations, the distillery has been handed
down from father to son. It is one of the most
important distilleries in the region with 15
stills. The vineyard and the distillery have
continued to grow, with each generation
contributing its stone to the building.

Richard Delisle is a house founded in 1850,
linked to the Mitterrand family. At the end of
the Second World War, the Cabanne family
bought this brand in order to give a name to
its Cognacs.

Today, Alexis Cabanne, Cellar Master and
manager of the family business,
represents the fourth generation of
distillers.
He has developed the spirits trading
activity on the traditional French market
and for export by creating the Hawkins
Distribution company in 1999.
Richard Delisle Cognac is exported all
over the world.

The family vineyard covers nearly 72
hectares. It is located in three communes:
Bourg Charente en Petite Champagne,
Julienne and Saint Brice en Fins Bois. It is
composed of 100% Ugni-blanc.

Our distillery is one of the fifteen most
important in the delimited region of Cognac,
and is composed of fifteen Charentais stills.
The distillation is called "repasse" or double
distillation.
